room for error when our whole business depends on having a live working site. External Management Team: While things remain small in stage one, we will rely heavily on our own abilities to run a successful company, however there will be a few external team members that will be critical to our success. First will be an accountant. While I am able to maintain the day to day financials I do not have, nor do I think I could keep up with, all the changing tax laws and percentages. This is where an accountant will come into play. They will be involved in the monthly reconciliation of the books and oversee the payroll process. At years end they will take on the responsibility of the taxes. Another important team member that will be utilized greatly will be a graphic designer. Our custom graphics will be designed and created by a graphic designer that we already have lined up. He has been working in the business for 15 years and has produced several sets of custom graphics for our own personal use. He has the expertise in working with vinyl wraps and custom art design. He will also be a key player in the designing of our marketing materials. He can also produce mass quantities of promotional materials, that are beyond our in office capabilities. In stage two the plan is to keep the core group from stage one in place and doing the same things they had been doing, but expanding on the responsibilities as well as the personnel that can help. Once the store opens in stage two there will be department heads that will help to manage their specific departments. We will also have store managers and virtual managers who can take on some of the responsibilities that my husband and I had been doing alone. Group Dynamics and Philosophy: We believe very deeply in it takes a village. The management team dynamic we hope to have is that the whole management team can work together. By having round tables where we can create and brainstorm. The team will be expected to maintain a cordial working environment and keep disagreement resolution a high priority. We hope to have diversity, creativity, and eager team members who are enthusiastic about contributing and implementing the proposed ideas. I want each team member to feel like an important member, which they will be, and someone who can take charge and responsibility for their division of the company while still working cohesively with all the other divisions. There will be basic rules in place that will guide the group to work more efficiently, and open communication between members. Staying organized and well informed can keep productivity high. While I would love to jump right to the performing stage, I know it will take time to build up that cohesiveness.
