Richer than the next 5 economies put together $14 trillion GDP every year The US wanted to get a little richer and wanted to have more US jobs o Wanted GDP to go up, even though they are the richest in the world o Growing EU – adding new members and trade is increasing, GDP is getting bigger o China is growing wildly fast, India is growing fast as well, Asian trade blocks are growing faster than NAFTA and the EU Pushing for another trade block DR-CAFTA (Dominican Republic Central America Trade Agreement) o Want to merge that into FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas) – North, Central, AND South America The US pushed for this during both Bush administrations
