Lab Reports : Lab reports are written during and after completion of a lab. Due dates for each lab report are indicated in the Schedule of Experiments below. Late reports will be penalized 10 points for each day late. See the sections titled “What to Write During Lab” on pages 7-11, and “What to Write After Lab” on pages 12-13 of the Making the Connections techniques book for report guidelines. You must also include references for all sources of information you use to prepare your report (if any). Note that ALL data, observations, and calculations MUST be entered directly into your lab notebook. The duplicate pages for these entries must be turned in with the lab report at the beginning of lab on the due date indicated. The rest of the lab report (discussion, conclusions, and answers to post-lab questions) may be type written if you wish. You will find post-lab questions that must be included with your report at the end of each experiment in the manual. YOUR TA will give you more information about specific requirements for lab reports on the first day of lab. Grading Procedures and Policies: Grading for the course will be based on quizzes given for each experiment, a comprehensive grade for each experiment, and a cumulative examination. **All grades become final one week after graded work is returned to you by your TA. **Your grade book on your section’s Blackboard website is final as of the check out lab. Honor Code : The University of Miami Undergraduate Student Honor Code operates fully in CHM laboratory courses. (see ) You are expected to be familiar with its provisions. Avoid plagiarism when writing lab reports! Note that it is perfectly acceptable to discuss lab results, report sections, calculations, error analysis, etc. with other students (both current and those who have completed the course already), TAs in the CRC, or any other resources like online information. You can also review old lab reports for help and ideas. When you actually produce your own lab report, however, the report must be your ideas in your words. All lab reports you submit to your TA must be 100% your own work. Any material that is copied or taken directly from someone else’s work is plagiarized information!! This includes material in which sentence structure and ordering is changed for the sole purpose of making the work seem like it is not copied material. QUIZZES: The quiz for each experiment will be given within the first 15 minutes of the lab meeting (see schedule of experiments for quiz dates) and will be worth 25 points. The quizzes will test you on background reading from the textbook that covers the theory, techniques, and safety issues for the experiment that week. The purpose of the quiz is to test your preparation for the experiment.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
