(Kolosky). Next, it’s known that almost all the illegal contraband in the United States is brought in through Mexico. According to an article, “Mexican drug cartels take in between $19 billion to $29 billion annually from drug sales in the U.S” (Kolosky). The Trump administration also reported that there are more than 10,000 MS-13 gang members across 40 of our states, which is a gang that originated in Mexico. The motto of the MS-13 gang is “kill, rape, and control,” which is a motto definitely not wanted known by the United States. The wall is said to help decrease the number of the dangerous criminals coming from Mexico. This would help eliminate gang members, drug dealers, guns, and human traffickers from illegally entering the country. Lastly, it’s said that the wall will help the economy immensely. According to Thought Co, “illegal immigration costs the United States an estimated $113 billion in lost tax revenue a year. The outlet also reports that illegal immigration also puts an extreme burden on social
welfare programs, the health-care systems and education programs” (Kolosky). This well begin to lessen the amount of tax revenue that is lost per year. Also, the illegal immigrants take away low paying jobs from U.S. citizens that may need them, “…immigrants take jobs away from Americans….” (Salay). The wall will help to provide many more jobs to Americans. On the other hand, many people are also against building the wall because the cost for its building will be very expensive, the way it is separating the Mexican families, and illegal immigration will never completely end. The amount of money needed for the border wall is unknown because it is a 1,900 mile-long, area where the border is being built. Predictions have been made that the wall will cost between $2 billion to $30 billion. President Trump made a campaign promise that he would make Mexico pay for the wall. However, the Mexican government refused to pay, and this left the American’s paying for it. Trump asked for $5 billion to cover 650 miles of the building. The high and un-firm price tag makes America’s people very skeptical of its future effectiveness. Will it be cheap and a waste of money or worth all the billions being spent? Second, the border patrol is separating families at the border and this is causing commotion and upsetting many people. At the beginning of June, an article was written, and it said “At any given time, for the past several weeks, more than 2,000 children have been held in the custody of US Border Patrol without their parents” (Lind) this is what is upsetting everyone, leaving children without their parents. Legally, they aren’t supposed to be held by border control for longer than 72 hours before then being sent to the Department of Health and Human Services. This service is then responsible for finding their nearest relative. The reason
