There are two ways to administer the course: in one-on-one discussions with a priesthood leader, or in group meetings. These two methods are explained in the sections below. Choose the method that works best for your area or stake.Regardless of the method used, the stake president should read the introduction of My Continuing Missionwith each returned missionary during his or her mission release interview. The stake president should then explain to the returned missionary how to use the book and whether he or she will be expected to attend group meetings or one-on-one discussions. The stake president should invite the returned missionary to read the “Instructions for Readers” section above and to study chapter 2 prior to the first meeting. This booklet contains specific invitations to act upon the principles you learn. These actions are displayed in a yellow box. The Spirit will prompt you to take additional actions beyond what is written in this book. Write down those impressions and commit to act upon them.vHOW TO USE THIS BOOKLET
viOPTIONS FOR ADMINISTERING THE COURSEOption 1: One-on-One MethodDescription: A priesthood leader—typically a high councilor, member of the bishopric, or elders quorum president—meets with the returned missionary weekly for eight weeks. Each visit focuses on takeaways from one chapter in My Continuing Mission. The priesthood leader helps the returned missionary progress by helping him or her recognize impressions from the Holy Ghost and make and keep commitments.Instructions• A priesthood leader is assigned to meet with a returned missionary weekly for eight weeks. Each visit should last about 30 minutes.• Prior to each meeting, the returned missionary and the priesthood leader read the relevant chapter in My Continuing Mission. • During the meeting, the priesthood leader follows the discussion guide found at the back of each chapter. (Before the first meeting, the priesthood leader and returned missionary should read the section of these instructions titled “Using the Discussion Guides.”)Note: In stakes or areas with a significant number of missionaries returning home each year it may be difficult to support the one-on-one method. These areas and stakes should consider using the group method described below.Option 2: Group MethodDescription: A group of at least three recently returned missionaries meets weekly for eight weeks to discuss the things they are learning from My Continuing Mission. They help one another make and keep commitments that will strengthen them. A priesthood or auxiliary leader from each ward should participate in the group.Instructions:• A priesthood leader organizes a time and location for a group to meet for one hour each week for eight weeks.
