the participants to participate within a two minute warm up walk. If the participant passed was able to do this task without any complications then they would be asked to complete a timed 400 meter walk test. While they were doing this walking test their heart rate was being monitored through the whole time. Along with physical activity measurement they also had the participants complete a physical activity questionnaire that basically classified the participants into three different categories. The first category was the inactive and then the second one was lifestyle active and then lastly was exerciser. Along with that they were also tested on the isokinetic strength of the participant’s knee extensors. As for the hypothesis I believe that the thought was that depending on the different levels of exercise and physical activity that the different participants had within their lives would affect their scores and abilities to complete some of the assigned tasks. The results that they came up with at the end of the study showed that basically people who did some type of lifestyle activity such as gardening or simple exercise and people who did exercise had similar activity levels. While the individuals who were inactive and had no source of exercise or physical activity had lower performance on some of the other tests that they were asked to do. So to conclude things it’s safe to say that older people who end up doing at least some sort of exercise regime or at least keep physically activity have better physical function than those who have no physical activity or are inactive. This article is able to relate to our class material because first our class is about the biology of aging. Then we are learning about the biological ways of how our body ages and how it affects us. Then this article basically shows that in order to have good physical function you need to be somewhat active and exercise a little bit which we saw in our class material as well.
