Lateral & Clerk Integration • “The firm has been extremely welcoming.” • “Always a little tough to join up with a group that already knows each other well, but the firm seems to do what it can.” OUR SURVEY SAYS Vault’s Verdict: Wachtell Lipton is the perfect firm for certain people: brilliant and driven lawyers who want to work with the best legal minds on the most high profile matters. Wachtell Lipton’s associates are paid bucket-loads of money but they also sign away pretty much any semblance of work/ life balance. Associates who stick it out have a good chance to make partner, and those who decide to leave are confident that the world is their oyster. Satisfaction • “Outstanding work and incredibly smart, talented, and interesting people. You work hard, but the work is meaningful and you can contribute from the moment you show up at the firm. Teams are so small that you get a tremendous amount of responsibility as soon as you can handle it.” • “Amazing opportunities to work on numerous matters. Given substantial responsibilities from week one, which is what I was looking for.” • “The firm does everything possible to keep associates happy and engaged. The hours and need to be on-call 24/7 are tough, but most partners and administrative staff acknowledge that and offer resources and support when possible.” • “I find the work interesting and challenging, but the lifestyle can be difficult and isolating, so the tradeoff falls somewhere in the middle in terms of job satisfaction.” Firm Culture • “The mentality of the firm, I think, is ‘we keep you here working for long hours, so we won’t make you stay around longer to socialize.’ That said, people from the firm get together a fair amount of their own accord. I appreciate that WLRK offers social events but that there is little pressure to be involved in everything all at once. I also really value the weekly attorney lunches where partners and associates gather for a midweek break over great food.” • “The culture among associates is very friendly and associates tend to socialize informally with one another. The firm provides a few small-group social events per year that are very well attended and provide an opportunity to really get to know lawyers of varying levels and practice groups.” • “Given the small size of the firm, social opportunities are not very common and it is hard to get a critical mass to attend events. Lawyers here are serious and incredibly intelligent. People are generally nice but very focused on their work without much time for socializing or small talk.”

Teams are very small; partners

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
