Everyone embodies certain characteristics of leadership to maximise our collaborative
potential. Hence, role allocation had to done in a way such that each of us would be able to
harness on our various strengths to put forth our ideas, driving us towards our end goal.
Accordingly, Qi Xiang took the roles of leader and liaison, as he has the characteristics of
being charismatic, spontaneous, decisive and reliable. For example, he went to survey
Labrador Park on his own to get a better idea of our task at hand without being told to do so.
Marcus took on the role of disseminator, as he is meticulous and conscientious in his work,
never failing to keep everyone updated on the changes made to the project. Victoria took on
the role of spokesperson for the group as she is a quick-thinker and expressive. She never
fails to have a response in situations and is not afraid to voice out her opinions of things. Don
took on the role of entrepreneur as he is innovative and forward thinking. He never fails to
analyse how our ideas and suggestions fit into the bigger picture at hand and come up with
creative solutions to problems. Han took on the role of disturbance handler as he is assertive
and is disciplined. For example, if meetings start to go off agenda, Han remains goal-oriented
and is the one who reminds us to stay focused and on task. Cheng Leng took the role of the
monitor as she is a critical thinker and detail-oriented. She never fails to record down critical
information discussed during meetings and communicate details to other members of the
group. Chia Min on took the role of resource allocator as she is an organised individual and
has good communication skills. She always has a time management plan when it comes to
our meetings and is clear on what we should achieve by the end of the day. Being able to
have a rational mind during times of conflict, Rishita is able to handle disputes and other
conflicting ideas. As such, she fits the role of a negotiator as she is able to make peace and
allow the group to continue with the flow.
