This type of addiction usually starts with small purchases and paying with their credit card. 3. Online gambling and online pornography Gambling is a growing business on the internet and Risking money or something of value on an activity with an uncertain outcome As for pornography, since the website changes the pornographic content every day, addicts can visit the website according to their different desires. 1. Treatment This disorder is very much an under-researched area and there are no treatments of established efficacy or effectiveness. 1.a. Practice the opposite This involves identifying the exact pattern of the individual’s internet use and then trying to break their online routine and habit by introducing neutral activities as a replacement to shift their focus. 1.b. External stoppers The addict should use prompts to remind them when it is time to log off. 1.c.Setting goals Addicts should design a daily or weekly planner showing specified times allocated to internet use so as to give back the individual a sense of control over their use.
