There are plenty of ways to keep your equipment safe, one way is disabling anonymous access to your server. You can set the server to only allow the network to access information; this won’t let any outsiders in. Allowing certain dates and times for users to access data can also come in handy. Let’s say you know that on the weekends and any day after 6:00pm, nobody will need to be accessing data, you can set it to only allow log-ins during specific times. Similar to only allowing access to the network, you can go a step further and set it to specific IP address. Setting strong password requirements is also important. There are common passwords that the general public uses, and that’s just too easy for someone trying to get on the network. This will make sure everyone has a safe password. Another thing to do is to have anti-virus or other security software. Especially after downloading software off the internet, you never know where the virus’ can be hiding. It’s also very common for anyone requiring a server to have a firewall for protection but having a firewall is not enough, you need to know how to manage it.

Knowing why its important to secure your networks data and knowing HOW TO secure the data are two very important pieces of information that server users need to know. I think with this knowledge your company’s data will be safe and accessible to you and your employees for a long time.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
