In conclusion, I feel Amy Tan's purpose in writing this article was to show perfect English speak has no bearing on their intelligence. She wrote about the struggles her mother went through because people couldn't or wouldn't understand her English and her perseverance to learn to read, write, and speak in a foreign land. Because of this, Amy Tan learned different forms of the English language to write amazing stories from a different perspective to reach many audiences through her writing.I completely relate to this article because my mother speaks with an accent and I remember how she was treated at times. Her English may sound "broken" but her mind is whole. I saw the struggles she dealt with because of this and how calm she handled it. Just like Amy Tan, I am in awe of my mother and her approval is very importI have been very fortunate to have my mother and my father's English. My mother being Japanese and my father being American. I grew up with 2 Englishes and neither is more important than the other. I've been able to understand the same language in two very differentways and it's beautiful. I think Amy Tan understands this and we are all very fortunate she hasused her experiences with her various Englishes to write stories that touch so many different people on so many different levels.
