5.) Apply the information about job design/job crafting to your own life. How could you use these principles to make a job you currently have more enjoyable? If you are not currently employed, refer to a previous job or participation in clubs or extracurricular activities . How could you have made the situation fit better with your own unique strengths and interests? When I worked at Hollister Co., I used job crafting to make my job more enjoyable for me. My job included greeting people when they walked into the store, folding clothes and working the cash register. Since I am a people person, I found that my shifts would go faster if I interacted with customers more than just simply saying “Hey, how’s it going?”. Instead, I would offer to help them find items or help them out in finding sizes. Helping people find sizes also helped in reducing the tedious part of the job, refolding the clothes
that customers mess up. I found this method to be effective because it allowed me to be more interactive, while also reducing the amount of a task that I did not enjoy. This was also effective for me because it created significance and identity. I was able to see that customers were satisfied and had a good experience when they came in to a store and had an employee that was willing to help them out.
