vacuuming, or cleaning windows) (2020). You should also look out for the inability to make appropriate decisions and changes in mood or personality (CDC, 2020). In the case study performed, Joanna is a 65-year-old woman who is starting to develop symptoms to Alzheimer’s disease. Noticed by Joanna’s husband James, Joanna is having trouble handing her money and paying bills, forgetting dates, and even forgetting the names of her grandchildren. James is noticing that Joanna is always looking worried and anxious without any reasoning behind those emotions. Since James is seeing these symptoms, he is going to take the next text and connect Joanna’s primary doctor. Pathogenesis We know that Alzheimer’s disease can progress from mild memory loss to severe memory loss and difficulty performing everyday tasks, but what is happening inside our body? Studies have been performed and there is evidence that cellular proteins progress with the disease making the symptoms worse in the person diagnosed. When the proteins change throughout early, late, and age-matched stages it shows that the proteins are responsible for the different changes throughout the disease starting in the early stage (Lynn et. Al., 2010). To add, mass deposits of proteins will affect the brains neurons, which makes the neurons die off and cause brain changes resulting in the symptoms a person with this diagnoses experiences (National Institute of Health, n.d.). Throughout the levels of Alzheimer’s disease, mild cases include losing track of where they are and straying off, trouble handling small items, making sure they are understood by questioning themselves, and changes in their character (National Institute of Health, n.d.). Moderate Alzheimer’s disease occurs when memory loss worsens, unable to understand tasks at hand, having problem recognizing people they know, and may even experience fictional visions
