Insulator chains (broken insulators, number
of discs in chain, conductors off pin insulator,
etc.).
General state of the pole, cross-arms and tie-
straps.
Pole base covered by silt, residues and water
retention.
Soil erosion at the base of the pole.

Inspection criteria
Accessibility of the poles.
State of earth wire and connection to the
ground.
Trees near the line.

Frequency
It is recommended that this inspection be
done
once every six months
. However, every
area can establish the appropriate frequency
depending on the criticality of the area and
past experience.

MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
Maintenance Engineer shall receive
inspection Reports from Inspection
Supervisor and schedule for the maintenance
works.
Maintenance Engineer Conducts Network
improvement studies and
refers to Chief
Engineer Design for appropriate design and
reinforcement.
Maintenance Engineer shall assign the job to
Maintenance supervisor.

MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
The supervisor shall book required materials
and the team shall start maintenance
preparations.
Where maintenance requires system outage
the Supervisor shall apply for isolation from
the System Controller as per approved
system operation procedures and assign the
job to Maintenance team – Refer to WI:-
KPLC1/6C/QMS/OP/02/WI-01

MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
Where no isolation is required, Supervisor shall
assign the job to Maintenance team. The
maintenance team shall use appropriate
Maintenance Handbook and work instruction to
execute.
The Maintenance Supervisor shall confirm if all
identified defects are rectified or if the
reinforcement has been executed as designed and
where OK, he shall restore supply; in liaison with
System Controller as per the normalization of
Network, Ref. WI – KPLC1/6C/QMS/OP/02/WI-04

MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
Where maintenance/reinforcement is not
completed, details will be recorded, restore
supplies and reschedule the outstanding
works.
The Maintenance Supervisor shall confirm
supply after restoration.
