Dr. Stone also talked about how many people especial in Sub-Saharan Africa have been affected by TB without much knowledge to control it on time. All these show that people need to be educated in such areas to see what can be done to reduce TB and other diseases.Furthermore, after careful consideration of Dr. Amber Wutich Global Health and International Development lecture in module 4, I can see that it is good to add international development aspect to my proposal in order to improve the living conditions for impoverished people and communities, mostly low-income countries which have been left out of the economic conversation. For this particular change, I would like to focus on social and economic strategies so that affordable medicines, staffing hospitals, vaccine development, microfinance and small business development in the communities. Hence making the standard of living better for people who cannot afford their immediate needs under normal circumstance. This is a vital change because the capacities mentioned above could be excellent ways in which the global health system can be improved. Also, in my initial proposal, I indicated that there would be a proper innovative method toprevent, cure and detect non-communicable disease but I did not demonstrate how such issues would be done. In module 3, Dr. Anne Stone and Dr. Alexandra Brewis talked about their works to find out the root of some diseases and this show that if we invest adequate time and resource into research new and dangerous health issue that pose threat to the entire community, the problem would be fixed on time because knowing the root of the issue is indeed a part of the solution. As we can also see from the “The Rise of Superbugs” video, whenever people take antibiotic, the bug become a superbug. The video again highlighted that there be a high
probability for the community to have superbug if more people take an antibiotic in an inappropriate way. All these tell us that such situation is somehow new and if enough time and research are invested into it, then the possible solution could be found. One other thing which I would like to include in my proposal is the involvement of government agencies who have experience in global health issues. As mentioned in Dr. Wutich’s “Global Health and International Development” lecture, agencies like World Health Organizationand United Nations, non-governmental agencies like CARE USA and the rest are good to partnerwith in the process of handle global issues because they all have a major role to play in the global health.
