All assignments will have a specific due date and time.
Assignments must be turned
in before that time or will receive zero credit.
Understand that sometimes things are
out of your control, so planning ahead and getting work completed early will almost
always ensure you will not miss a deadline.
ONE MINUTE LATE IS STILL LATE –
REGARDLESS OF YOUR TECHNOLOGY OR WORK RELATED ISSUES, figure it out.
The only exception to this policy is for an unforeseen hospitalization or other
extreme medical or family emergency supported by legible documentation,
explaining the situation.
If you are sick, but not hospitalized, no matter how sick you
are, points will be deducted as described above.
Assignments are generally open for
several days, so catching the flu or stomach bug on the day something is due is not
an excuse for not doing it earlier.
Instructions for each assignment will be reviewed in class with summaries of
instructions posted to Blackboard.
It is the students’ responsibility for
understanding the instructions for the assignment and completing what is asked for
each project.
Failure to follow directions or providing material that was not asked
for will result in lower grades on the assignment.
Communication Tip: If you
prepare ahead of time and read through assignments and have a question, ASK IT.

All papers submitted in this course must be original work, not similar to papers you
have submitted in other EXW courses.
This is a department policy.
The penalty for
this will be score of zero on the paper for this course.
Submissions will be subject to
review with plagiarism software, if you are found to be copying material you will fail
the assignment and possibly the course.
Copying material from another student and submitting it as original work is
prohibited.
Any student involved in this activity, whether known or unknown, will
receive a zero for the assignment in question.
A second violation of this policy will
result in a failing grade for this course and referral to student council for disciplinary
action.
Copying material from yourself is also a form of plagiarism, you are expected
to do original work for this class, not rehash assignments from other courses.
Copying material directly from the internet and using it as original work is
plagiarism and will be treated as a violation of the academic code of conduct.
Guest Speaker Assignments – the guest speakers for class are scheduled around the
convenience of their schedule (most are working professionals).
The write-ups for
the guest speaker are generally short reflections based on their information.
You
must be present in class for the guest speaker to turn in a guest speaker assignment.
Announcements when guest speakers will be in class will be made during lectures.
The guest speaker assignments are not detailed in the schedule; they are due
the day after the guest speaker and will be announced only in class
.
