Graduates of biochemistry may serve in the pharmaceutical and food industries of Pakistan. A number of opportunities are also available in clinical laboratories and research institutions. Over the last 40 years biochemistry has become so successful at explaining living processes that now almost all areas of the life sciences are engaged in biochemical research. Today the main focus of pure biochemistry is to understand how biological molecules give rise to the processes that occur within living cells. This in turn relates greatly to the study and understanding of whole organisms. The discipline of Biochemistry was working under the umbrella of Chemistry since 1975 at Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan. A large number of students have obtained their M.Sc, M.Phil and PhD degrees in Chemistry with specialization in Biochemistry. Keeping in view the need of subject in the Country particularly in Southern Punjab, an independent Department was established in August, 2012. Presently the Department of Biochemistry is running BS (4-year), M.Sc., M.Phil and PhD programs of study. The department also caters subsidiary requirements of allied biological subjects. Curricula have been developed under the guideline of Higher Education Commission to cover all the recent areas of Biochemistry.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
