This is why "one of the best ways to help our students extend and enrich their speaking and writing vocabularies is by reading to them" (Rog, 2007). During the video in this week's module, teacher Robert Recio explains how important it is to incorporate books into the reading and writing lesson because he states it helps students to start thinking as you talk to them about the content and ask them questions (Laureate Education, 2014i). I really enjoyed hearing about the writing their own book activity. He stated they were learning by doing their writing and illustrating. He then used that same activity to lead into a time to teach them about the parts of a book. It was really informative and the students were very engaged in the lesson. The environment of the classroom was very print rich with pictures and labels. I found this to be very important because even when a student didn't know that the letters
were forming the word they would see those letters and be able to begin to associate themwith the given picture. He touched on having pictures and labels with Spanish on them to
