Children who reside in Switzerland receive healthcare from primary care pediatricians, hospitals and specialists. There are many specialty areas within healthcare for Swiss children such as pediatric oncology, pediatric emergency care, and even pediatric cardiology. This is the same as the US which has the same healthcare available for children. The primary difference is Swiss children have their own insurance policy. A US child is most likely on a family plan with their parents and siblings. The US has Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) that provides free or low-cost health insurance to people with low or no income, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with disabilities (HealthCare.gov, n.d.). A2A. COVERAGE OF MEDICATIONS In Switzerland, prescription medications mainly covered by the insurance company: the individual pays 10% and the insurance company pays 90%.
