Alvarado 4 Discussion The wavelength in which there was a maximum absorbance was at 630 nm. With the line of best fit in the absorbance vs. concentration graph, the molar absorptivity was 127468 M -1 cm -1 . In part one of the experiment, there were a few points that were greater at a lower wavelength than those that were at higher wavelength. The first two points of the absorbance and wavelength graph were higher than what they should be for the graph to have a smooth increase. The color that has a wavelength of 630nm in the wheel of color is red. In the Beer’s law plot, my points were very close to the line of best fit. The line of best fit of my Beer’s Law plot does end up at zero and I do believe that it should because that is the absorbance of a blank solution showing that the light source completely goes through a clear sample. Some possible sources of error in this experiment could be that the cuvettes were not cleaned properly to remove fingerprints or water that could be blocking the light source from going through the cuvette. Another error could be that there was not enough sample in the cuvettes to allow the correct readings to be given. Overall, the Beer’s Law plot was linear and there was not much of a distance between the points and the line of best fit.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
