QUIZ 6.4 MODULES 4 - 6 4 by satellite navigation and periodically broadcast it. ADS-B has transformed all segments of aviation. Real-time precision shared situational awareness, advanced applications for pilots and controllers alike- these are the hallmarks of ADS-B NextGen Surveillance (FAA, 2020). ADS-B has been instrumental towards aviation safety and efficiency for aircraft taxi and flying. Starting January 1 st , 2020, the FAA has required aircraft to be equipped with ADS-B to fly in a majority of controlled airspace. Reflection 2 This is all in an attempt to make the airways as safe as possible for those involved in the flying process. One thing I did learn from my research on this is that there will be no subscription fees to use the new system and all its benefits. The owners of the airlines or aircraft will pay for the equipment and installation, but the FAA will cover the cost for administering and broadcasting all services related to the technology. With this knowledge it will help in several ways from safety to budging. Peer discussion 3 – 6.2 Airline Fleet Management Fleet management is an administration approach that helps companies to organize and coordinate work vehicles to have the most efficiency and reduce cost for the company (Rouse). For an airline, this can include airplanes, ground equipment and gates at the airport. The airline needs to figure out the best way to use their equipment so that the airline can make the most profit it can. Airlines need to also figure out if they want to purchase their planes or rent the aircraft. Depending on the airline, they need to figure out what the demand for airplanes they need. They do not want to have too many airplanes for their fleet as this would not be cost- effective for the airline.
