career I will continue to have people critique my resume, this ensures that when I am sending it out for positions that I am sending the best version of it. Module 5: Identify 3 key points form this module. Reflect on how why each point is important, how it impacts on your work experience or nursing practice, and how will you change your practice in the future based on each key area. Key Point 1 This week I finished my power point. I found that putting together a project that you have to present to an audience is tough to put together. It is easy to have to many slides and to turn a concise project into a long and boring one. It was tough putting together all the information into a usable tool. N ow that I have completed this project, I will definitely know how to present another one in the future. I can add to my resume that I am proficient in power point now. This will be a good skill to have as I grow into my profession. Key Point 2 Audience: I decided to speak to nursing students at a local college. My thought behind this was that the information would be better for new nurses that have not been jaded by patients and years of working. I figured that if I could get even 1 to change their way of thinking about the mentally ill, then they will carry that for years in the profession and hopefully save lives. During this presentation I found that I enjoy teaching and have thought maybe I will become an instructor at some point in the future. There is no better way to influence then by teaching. Key Point 3 Public Speaking: I never had a problem with public speaking, and I have taken courses before that require it. I found if different when the topic being presenting is something you are passionate about. I found my voice get a little high a few times and had to take a step back. Presenting to small group of peers on your unit is different than in front of a class of students. That day I only had 6 students there, but I felt it was tougher than in front of a room full of coworkers. I enjoyed doing it, I feel that this was a great experience and look forward to having more public engagements for speaking Module 6: Identify 3 key points form this module. Reflect on how why each point is important, how it impacts on your work experience or nursing practice, and how will you change your practice in the future based on each key area. Key Point 1 Philosophy: Having a personal philosophy helps keep you centered. Living by a belief allows you to know that even in the most chaotic of times, you have a compass that points you north. My nursing philosophy is similar to my life philosophy. They sometimes diverge, but the they always come back to the same intersection. I think as we age in life and grow in our profession, our philosophy changes. It adapts to new experiences and new understandings. This in turn impacts your practice. It is all intertwined with each other. As I continue to move forward in my career, I will remember this, and continue to adapt my philosophy.
