5.1 Final Grade Components Component of Grade Max Points Midterm Exams 200 Final Exam 100 Homework/Quizzes 200 Total: 500 Determining your final grade : At the end of the semester, I will add up all of the points you have accumulated during the course and then assign you a grade according to Point Range/Grade Scale below. Adding extra credit points : There is extra credit of up to 20 points for acting professional! More on this later. Here is how I add extra credit points. If your final points for the course are 460/500 but you earned 20 points extra credit for attendance then your final grade is 480/500. Note that when adding extra credit points, only the numerator changes. 5.2 Final Grade Determination Final letter grades will be determined according to the scale below. Point Range Grade 500 - 465 A 464 - 450 A- 449 - 435 B+ 434 - 415 B 414 - 400 B- 399 - 385 C+ 384 - 365 C 364 - 350 C- 349 - 335 D+ 334 - 325 D 324 - 300 D- < 300 F Is there a curve? Is there other extra credit? THERE IS NO CURVE IN THIS CLASS. At the end of the semester, I simply add the component grade points to determine your pre- attendance grade. I then adjust the grade with respect to attendance and arrive upon your final grade. However, I do reserve the right to offer extra credit, in a form of my choosing, at any time during the semester. Completing the extra credit can only help your grade. Extra credit (if any) will be offered to the class as a whole. There will be no individual opportunities for extra credit. Please do not ask me for individual extra credit assignments. If you are not in class when I give an extra credit assignment you cannot make up that assignment. Receiving Your Final Grade: I do not send grades via email or discuss grades on the telephone. The University posts all final grades. Questions about Your Final Grade: While I understand that you may want me to answer an individual email about your final exam grade or your final grade for the course, I know that you understand that this is not possible. If you have a question about your final grade after the grades are posted, email me and we can set up an appointment to discuss your grade in the next 6

semester. If you are a graduating senior, you may have your advisor contact me to affirm that you are a graduating senior. After I have confirmed this status, we can discuss your grade either in person or via telephone conference. 6 Attendance During the first three class periods, we will construct a seating chart. You should sit in your seat for each class unless you arrive to class after we have started. Attendance will be taken promptly at the beginning of each class period. If you are not in your assigned seat when attendance is taken, you are considered absent. Late arrival counts the same as an absence. Leaving class early or taking a more-than-10-minute leave in the middle of the class also counts the same as an absence.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
