3. Valence: Valence is the strength of an employee’s preference for a reward. Thus, salary increases, promotion, peer acceptance, recognition by supervisors, or any other reward might have value to individual employees. Valence is the importance that the individual places upon the expected outcome. Managers should also try to increase the expected value of the rewards resulting from the desired performance. The way managers can do it by distributing rewards worth the worker, and reward rewards. With a demographic workforce, it is confusing to believe that all employees want the same rewards. Some employees may appreciate promotion or salary increases, while others may prefer additional holidays, better insurance benefits, day care, or older care facilities. Respondent 1 expected that get rewarded in cash or additional holiday.
