Boom.” Although Carmine Street Guitars is allegedly filmed over the course of the week as shown by the day to day interactions in the movie, there are some factors that might indicate that the scene selection and editing was influenced and shaped to make it seem like everything happened in one week. It is debatable if Mann actually filmed the store over the course of a week, or if he just filmed on specific days where artists would come to the store and make it flow. It is very unlikely that many recognized people showed up into the store in such a short time span, which makes me think that the film has some type of arrangement with the cameos instead of being filmed spontaneously. On several occasions, I noticed how some of the people entering the store would seem to force out questions or keep the conversation going, although it was pretty evident there was not much else to say, implying that what they were saying was scripted. This certainly opposes the authenticity that we first see of Kelly working on his guitars along his collegue. However, the presence of cameos in the film gives the film a sense of engagement and makes the store gain praise as well as prestige. During the film there is no one on one interviews from a specific person, rather the people who visit the store are the ones who learn about Kelly’s story behind the store and his range of self-made guitars.
