My second goal is to practice Mindfulness. This is done both by meditation and by focusing on the present while leaving the past difficulties and future fears aside. I intend to begin taking classes in September as I know this method of being truly helps the vital/rhymic self. ("Dr. Randall S. Hansen ," n.d.) My first goal for my mental/emotional self is something I am beginning to embrace since I set and began my educational journey. I have lived my life in worry and stress. Always thinking about the what ifs and why nots. I intend to utilize all the tools I have acquired through research to become a healthier happier version of myself. I now practice meditation and relaxation techniques and intend to continue on this path of acceptance and courage. My second goal is to improve my sleep pattern. I have always suffered from a restless interrupted sleep which leaves me tired, anxious and short fused. I have begun to listen to guided meditation for power sleep and it helps tremendously. PROFESSIONAL PRESENCE AND INFLUENCE 8 not listen to the recording for a variety of reasons, all of which are not good ones, so my goal is to increase the number of times per week that I take advantage and improve my sleep pattern. My first goal for biographical/spiritual body is by increasing my time in prayer. I say the serenity prayer each day and read an excerpt from Hazelden Meditations book called Twenty- Four Hours a Day which I received as a gift from a special friend. I allot quiet time for these readings and to reflect on what the words mean to me. I often get busy or distracted and forget to invest in this very important time. Along the course of my day find that things are not going as well as I would like. When I take the time to recognize my higher power I find my day is much more pleasant and productive. Although I am not an Alcoholic nor do I have close contact with one, I have found that Al-Anon is a safe place for me to learn about myself and others. I have to be honest and forthcoming about my issues and I find a deep connection to the people that come to this safe room. It is a deeply spiritual experience and I want to “keep coming back”. Attending meetings is my second goal towards a more spiritually connected self and by striving to meet these goals I will have a much more healthy whole being. Goal Achievement C. 1. b. In order to meet each one of these goals I must take the time and put in the effort individually and be aware of doing so. Changing my lifestyle has been easy, the hard part will be to continue this mind set for the long haul. In order to achieve my goals for physical self. I will plan my day to include exercise is sometimes difficult but essential to my physical well-being. Proper meal planning and shopping are key to having healthy choices in my home and to take with me are key.
