Cyber Attack Is Question of ‘Not If But When’ indicates that Sony has unfinished projects on their network and security infrastructure as they are still rebuilding their infrastructure regardless of numerous attacks to their systems. Markedly, things were noted to be so lax in the whole company where employees store over 1,000 passwords in a word document that was reachable and open to everybody. Seemingly, the company is believed to be too focused on prevention other than detection. The actual attack was launched for sixty minutes where it returned the company to where it used to be in the ‘80s. The company emails and computer accounts were entirely shut down where the employees in the studio reverted to the use of fax machines, snail emails, post-it notes, and handwritten paychecks. The hack caused significant impacts on a considerable number of people where 3,262 personal computers were erased all of their data leading to the loss of personal information of the workers. The hackers behind the system failure in Sony referred themselves as guardians of peace from North Korea. The hackers are noted to have broken into the systems a month before the launching of the malware that caused significant damages to the organization. The hacker began revealing the company secrets and other confidential details about the company as well as essential employee’s data such as performance reviews and their salaries.
