Singh discover who you really are, your strengths, your weaknesses, and most importantly, what you want to do in the future. I am currently picking my grade 11 courses, which is very challenging because in order for me to pick the right courses I have to know my path after high school. This is very stressful, since there are so many paths out there, but I do not know which one is right for me. I could go into science, business, arts, etc. My father is pressuring me to go into the field of science, but I do not know if that is right for me. If you make the wrong decisions in high school it could have a negative impact on your future after high school. School is an extremely stressful part in adolescent’s life, because of the work given, and the decisions that have to be made. Negative pressure from peers and the media are more factors that make an adolescence’s life more challenging. Peer pressure is when an individual is pressured by his/her peers into doing actions the individual would not normally do. Many adolescents are pressurized into doing drugs, engaging in sex, smoking, wearing inappropriate clothing, using foul language, and skipping classes. Teens give into peer pressure so that they can fit in with the others and be “cool”. Some of my friends started smoking marijuana so that they can be “cool”.
