A face that is framed centrally and lit dynamically o You are right in front of him and he is looking right at you o The intensity of the gaze Places you very up close and personal o Once we emerge we begin to question things The bowler hat? The fake eyelash? It’s a costume, as if they’re performing o It’s a series of ultraviolet skits It’s as if Alex is wearing a mask You can read people to an unusual extent through their face Alex raises his glass in a toast to you Only halfway through this shot does the voice over begin o He let’s the music and weird visuals resonate with you o We look at him looking at us The voiceover and long shot o Alex is descriptive, but he’s speaking directly to us in a idiom or slang  Refers to himself as “your humble narrator” He tries to set up a bond between us and him In the novel, Alex speaks in a slang called “nadsat” This is not sci fi, but it still has the eerie quality of futuristic  settings o The setting It is full of objects which reference sexuality or eroticism This will take a form of critique of what the erotic has become in  this society Women have become turned into objects
