they labeled the phage with sulfur, which is present in amino acid. After separation, the radioactive tracer was visible in the protein shells, which confirmed that DNA is the genetic material that infects bacteria. 6. A model is a physical representation of a structure - built to study aspects of structure or to communicate ideas. Depending upon the purpose, models can be made from a variety of materials, including blocks, paper, and wood, and at a variety of scales. Building a model helps you to understand the buildup; it helps you understand how things go together and how they work together. A computational model is a mathematical model in computational science that requires extensive computational resources to study the behavior of a complex system by computer simulation verses a physical model, which is a physical copy of an object. A computational model will be more detailed, giving more information on the data, and in quicker time; while a physical model is more hands on, and may be easier to read. 7. X-ray diffraction is the scattering of X-rays by the regularly spaced atoms of a 8. crystal, useful in obtaining information about the structure of the crystal.

9. Rosaline Franklin, along with Watson and Crick was trying to solve the structure of DNA. She, unlike them, was using x-ray diffraction as her method. Franklin produced to prints, which presented strong evidence that DNA was made up with a double helix. Watson and crick got their hands on her data, this information was the answer to their model, which they used to solve the structure of DNA. 10. X ray crystallography is taking x rays of DNA, and model building is a process of figuring out where things go in order to build a model. In my opinion, x ray crystallography is a lot more accurate that model building. Without the x ray, you really have no idea what DNA looks like. The x rays show accurate representation of what DNA looks like, verses model building, which can’t really be proven to be accurate without other data. In the search of the

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
