Some research about how media could affect the message about gender has been done. Information from books, newspaper’s articles, and magazines show that men have more important roles than a woman in mass media. Television commercials and programshave reinforced all the gender stereotypes. Media is portraying inequality gender through three different areas: films, commercials, and sports. For the past two decades, technology has developed so much that media have great power in society. Whether or not people use them right, they influence their lives a lot in different ways. It turns out, in some cases, media not only portray the reality about gender inequality but also encourage it thorough television, commercials and sports. Today, media with those biased portrayals are everywhere and people have gotten used toit, which is bad because it means that they forgot there are people who are suffered from this issue. Now, people claiming equality for women are called “feminists” as if they are
a different group of people even though what they are trying to achieve is to gain human rights that every single person on the earth is supposed to have. In my opinion, I do not base my vote on the gender of a person when it comes to voting. I would rather look at the individual as a whole. What I mean by a whole is that I would look at their abilities whether they can run this country or not. Moreover, the candidate must know how to support and make it beneficial to every class in society whether they are upper-class, middle-class or lower-class. Only then, I would vote for that candidate because they are deserved that seat if they can do all the things that I statedabove.By using media, it’s easy to portray gender inequality. However, it’s also easy to share a word from those people trying to change the world. They just don’t do it because for some people sticking with the stereotypes of gender benefits them. After all, the media portray gender inequality significantly and sometimes even promote it. Perhaps, it’s not the great technology or media to fix this issue but a small change of view about gender in people’s minds.
