Your name:______ ESL 3 I predict this part of the book is about the Africans’ life because the background of the cover is so beautiful and looks like nature and tropical rainforests full of greenness . I also predict that the two characters Tengo and Frikkie may go against each other. (prediction) At present , I have reached the goal of this week because I have read 50 pages. The story took place in Africa, which matched my prediction (Where and when: time and location). The main characters in this part are Tengo and Frikkie, who are childhood friends . Tengo is a black boy while Frikkie is a white child (who). In this part, the story is about Tengo who wanted to go school badly because he wanted to find answers for his questions . However , his mother did not want him to go to school (What). Why this happened is due to the fact that Tengo’s mother was afraid to let Tengo leave home (why). (If you can’t find why, you don’t need to write about it.) So far , I like what I read for the following reasons. (Or: I do not like this book for the following reasons). First , it is about black people’s life that I know very little about . Second , I like the descriptions of the farm in the book. However , I do not like to read ordinary people’s peaceful life because it is boring to me. Here are the five words I have learned from reading this book. 1. veldt: noun , an extensive, treeless grassland of southern Africa. Living in the veldt , you are part of the nature system.
