12. I would describe Emerson’s tone to lighthearted and slightly witty. The way he presents his view point isn’t forceful, but is still convincing. Also, he entertains the reader by writing parts in a joking fashion.ApplicationThere are many forms of education and different standards that students are held in comparison to, but Emerson feels that there should be no standard. Every student learns in a different fashion and has a specific passion they like to learn about. Another important thing Emerson brings up is how important it is for student and teacher to have a good relationship through mutual respect. The intro to education has the reader question whether Bill Gates is moreeducated or are his peers that didn’t drop out of college. Bill Gates is completely educated in what he wants to pursue and what he enjoys learning about where as his peers might have not succeeded in learning what they needed to succeed. Also, Emerson tells the importance of the impact a teacher can have on a student with life lessons as well as knowledge. Education is a concept that is hard to define under one definition, but what is known is that knowledge is powerand education provides knowledge.
