THE EXECUTIVE Also known as the Cabinet . The executive or cabinet is a body executing executive powers held by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. The cabinet will consist of a Prime Minister and some ministers responsible for their respective ministries ( portfolios ). In the context of Parlimentry Democracy, members of the cabinet are collectively responsible over the decisions made by the cabinet.

This situation meant that although a minister did not agree with the decision of the congregation, he was still required to agree on the decisions made by the cabinet . It violates the ethics of his post if a member of the cabinet objected openly. The cabinet is also collectively responsible to Parliament , that all cabinet members are responsible for all decisions made by the cabinet in Parliament.

Members of the Cabinet by YDPA: 1.YDPA first appoints the Prime Minister from members of the House of Representatives in his discretion. 2.The YDPA will then appoint other ministers from the members of the Dewan Rakyat or the Senate on the advice of the Prime Minister.

Functions of Cabinet 1. The sole & major policy making body of the Federal Government policy. 2. Implementing the executive power of the Federal Government in the name of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. 3. Collectively responsible to Parliament , that all cabinet members are equally responsible for all decisions made by the Cabinet. 4. Administering the federal government according to the jurisdiction of the Federal List.

5. Detailing & executing of the basic public policy promised to the people. 6. Establish a coordination aimed at building an effective and effective government administration. 7. Addressing any emergency problems involving the country and the people.

Prime Ministership The Prime Minister is the Chairman of the Cabinet . The Prime Minister presides over the Cabinet and leads the government . He has the power to nominate anyone to be appointed by the YDPA as a member of the cabinet . The Prime Minister also chairs the Cabinet meeting held once a week. As chairman, he can determine and control the agenda of the meeting (what can be discussed and the limitations governing the discussion of certain matters). The Prime Minister is also the country's chief executive executing executive powers while executive powers are held by YDPA as the Head of State .

The Prime Minister is appointed by the YDPA at his sole discretion and is subject to the following conditions: 1. The Prime Minister must be a member of the House of Representatives. 2. The Prime Minister must have the confidence of the majority of members of the Dewan Rakyat.
