AnalysisAnalyzing the Christian worldview can identify benefits of the Christian belief. According to article Character Strengths in the Context of Christian Contemplative Practice Facilitating Recovery from Alcohol Misuse by Selvam (2015), generally, religiosity has been found to have some protective effect on addictive behavior (Cook, 2009), and spirituality is said 3
to sustain maintenance of recovery (Miller & Bogenschutz, 2007). Having faith in the Lord can give someone a purpose driven life. Knowing we were all made as God intended us to be and apart of his plan. To have faith that with are body and soul. When our time is done on Earth, oursoul will go onto an eternal afterlife. For those with other worldviews, there are some aspects of Christianity that can be confusing. One area that may be confusing is the Trinity. Understandingthat God is divine and is able to be three different substances within one.ReflectionI was raised Catholic, which is a part of the Christian worldview. My father is very active in the church in my hometown. Watching his devotion to not only the church, but the community had a huge impact on me. After my mother passed away, I started to get more involved in the church with him. While he was a Grand Knight, I would go to events with him and help run them. Being able to work with an organization that holds great value in traditional family values and helping those in the community was very inspirational. My father was a leader in our church’s St. Vincent de Paul society. The funds are collected from the poor box in the church. There were times when there were not enough funds to cover an emergency for a family in the parish. Witnessing my father go to a family in need and give from his own pocket to ensure that they would be okay made me realize the importance of giving to others. Today I volunteer my time at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the St. Mary’s food bank, to give back to my community. I find being able to give back to others is very rewarding and makes my life feel more fulfilled.
