Propaganda played a huge role in this war. Each country involved used it. This was howthey got the support of the people that lived there. They needed to convince people toeither join the war or send resources to help support the soldiers. This also createdimages that portrayed the enemies in bad light. They wanted their people to hate theenemy. They wanted their people to want to fight back. This propaganda worked andallowed each nation to gain more support from around the world.2. With the economy torn down and banks failingeverywhere, Hoover’s administration attempted to support failing banks and institutionswith government loans, hoping the banks would loan to businesses, which would lowerunemployment. In 1932, Franklin D. Roosevelt won the presidential election and hismain task, initially, was to tackle the economic issues of the nation. PresidentRoosevelt’s approach was considered extremely ambitious because he suggested theformation of new government agencies and improving the nation will stabilize theeconomy; President Roosevelt’s plan was called the New Deal. The overall purpose ofthe New Deal was to stabilize industrial and agricultural production, create jobs, andstimulate recovery. Roosevelt also performed extensive reform on banks and created theFederal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to protect depositors’ accounts and theSecurities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to regulate the stock market. Germanybecame increasingly aggressive, led by fascist dictator Adolf Hitler, which led to war inEurope in 1939. The United States then focused its attention on adding strength to themilitary infrastructure of the United States, even as the country maintained its neutrality.Eventually, Roosevelt’s decided to support Britain and France in the struggle againstGermany and the other Axis Powers. As a result, defense manufacturing geared up,producing more and more private sector jobs which improved the American economyenough to end the depression.
