Malaria is caused by a parasite known as Plasmodium which is spread with the help of mosquitos. Most of the areas in Liberia are very swampy hence the occurrence of mosquitos is very high due to the habitable environment. The disease is not only transmitted by mosquitos but also through blood transfusions and sharing of needles. Nonetheless, malaria is preventable and curable if proper measures are taken by the people who live in mosquito-infested areas. There are drugs which have been made to neutralize the malaria parasite and Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLIT) and Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) to prevent it (“World Health Organization”,2018). International establishments such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and Global Fund have played a major role in eliminating the spread of the malaria disease.
