Microwave Fiber optics Be familiar with the different types of network circuits and media. Chapter 3 Question 10 10 / 10 pts (TCO G) Documentation for network and application software usually does not include information about the network operating system. usually does not include information about any special purpose network software. includes information about which data files each user can access. is not generally needed because networks are comprised of hardware only. Correct! is important for monitoring adherence to software license rules. Understand configuration management. Chapter 12 Question 11 Not yet graded / 25 pts (TCO A) What is a circuit? Your Answer: The circuit is the pathway through which the message travel. (Fitzgerald, Dennis & Durcikova 2014) The circuit is the pathway through which the messages travel. It can be made up of a copper wire, although fiber optic cable and wireless transmission are becoming more common. A circuit can also pass across many types of physical facilities, such as copper wire or fiber optic cable, but the single end-to-end connection, no matter what the equipment, is referred to as the circuit. There are many devices along the circuit’s path that perform special functions, such as hubs, switches, routers, and gateways. Chapter 1 Question 12 Not yet graded / 25 pts (TCO B) What is Telnet, and why is it useful? Your Answer: A Telnet enables users to log into severs (or other clients). (Fitzgerald, Dennis & Durcikova 2014) A Telnet is a network protocol used on the Internet or local area networks to provide a bidirectional interactive text-oriented communications facility using a virtual terminal connection.

It's useful for configuring network devices and allows you to participate in online communications. (Links to an external site.) Telnet enables users on one computer to login into other computers on the Internet. Once Telnet makes the connection from the client to the server, a user can login into the server or host computer in the same way as that person would if they dialed in with a modem; the user must know the account name and password of an authorized user. Telnet enables a person to connect to a remote computer without incurring long distance telephone charges. Telnet can be useful because it enables access to servers or host computers without sitting at the dedicated computer’s keyboard. Most network managers use Telnet to work on their organization’s servers, rather than physically sitting in front of them and using the keyboards. Chapter 2 Question 13 Not yet graded / 25 pts (TCO C) How is TCP different from UDP?
