Additionally, sexuality is very fluid and more complex than most people view it. Sexuality is highly influenced by both social and genetic factors. One is either born with it, or gets influenced by external factors. Also, sexuality is fluid in the sense that most people change their orientations over time. Some people have moved from heterosexual to homosexual, homo to hetero and so on (Kimmel, 2017). This can be best explained by epigenetics, which suggests that our genes are switched on and off in the course of life due to internal and external factors. Gender is also fluid

According to Kimmel (2017), there are people who argue that they are yet to find out who they really are in terms of gender. Further, gender identification is a social construct since the society shapes people to be what it expects of them, and not what one is supposed to be (Kimmel, 2017). Comparison of Gender Identification in the US and India Homophobia exists when a society views heterosexuality as the universal and acceptable sexuality, while any other form is discouraged. Homophobia leads to hatred and undervaluing of every person who engages in an orientation that is deemed to be unacceptable (Kimmel, 2017). The United States has with time acknowledged that gender does not basically refer to either male or female. Different states in the US are already giving the residents the opportunity of choosing a third gender, one that is neither male nor female.
