3Unit II Course ProjectOnce the company begins to rebuild the warehouse, I would recommend to start the design around the fire protection, detection, and suppression systems. This would help to identify design flaws in both the fire protection system as well as the layout of the building. My first recommended piece of equipment would be a diesel driven fire pump with battery power. This would eliminate the need for an electrical power source to run it. I would also recommend both an automatic fire protection, detection, and alarm system as well as automatic fire suppression systems. The use of automatic alarm systems in all the areas will eliminate the need for someone to actually call the fire department. The use of automatic sprinkler systems and smoke detectors will only be beneficial if the warehouse personnel do not stack items right underneath them. Along with the automatic systems in place I would also recommend that there be manual systems as well and also having identified personnel to operate manual firefighting systems. The warehouse management would have to provide training to personnel for them to be able to properly use this firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and standpipes.
