The bathroom is a shameful place where people fear to be seen in or being caught in the act. When they are communicating there are more and more chances for the topic of the body to come up in conversation which is essential to society as a whole to steer away from the norm and embrace what is natural for us. Barcan proves the attitudes and behavior of users of toilets. The Big Necessity by Rose George explores the same ideas as Barcan, such as sanitation and so much more. There are a variety of environmental concerns when it comes to technological innovation of the toilet and sanitation. However conventional technologies are hard to change making substitutes, new forms and models hard to come by. This technological block could be because of many reasons including political, institutional, and economic commitments and/or habits of behavior, learning, and culture. With the adoption of the new technology people do not view the long-term advantages it will gave as well as clear road to implementation.
