The results are than recorded onto our COSMOS system where we can preview what level of learners we will be having in the sessions as well as be able to monitor the literacy levels of our learners as a whole. For example at present we are developing a Lower Literacy level Journey product to help cover the increasing amount of lower literacy learners we have joining the programming. Another example of where I use Initial Assessment is at the beginning of a session using Ice Breaker activities, this allows me to observe and assess learning styles and levels of my learners. There is also the Formative Assessment which can be done during or at the end of sessions on an ongoing basis throughout the entire course. This allows me to find out how much learners have learnt and to see if any adjustment or review is required so learning objectives are met. For example at the end of my sessions {either Routeways or Journey} I have the learners complete a learning log and give examples of how they can use what they have learnt. I make a copy of the EOS and Learning logs and attach copies with my session attendance record which is than filed away in a secure file cabinet.
