This assignment is worth 20 points. “African American Migration” explains where they should go and if they should in fact leave at all, after the Civil War. There were a few reasons that making the decision to leave or not was not taken lightly. Staying in the south meant that it would be easier to find work, since they were skilled at their old jobs, such as farming. Leaving to go to the north could be seen as easier since some of the northern cities supported equality. The places they went to in the south was usual Richmond, Atlanta, and a few other places. There were also promised lands, these were places that were viewed as “best” to move to and live their lives as free citizens.
