text, is used to make a certain point over and over again and is a “widely used rhetorical device.” This method of constant repetition can have an effect on individuals into believing something just because it is heard over and over again. Just as in the Pantene ad, the words “strong is beautiful” keeps being repeated. She also says “strong is unbreakable, just like you” (Pantene ANZ, n.d). This could target insecure young women and teenage girls into believing that by using this specific shampoo that if their hair is strong then they will also be strong and confident just like Selena Gomez. The claim that is made in this advertisement is how the Pantene Pro-V shampoo makes the hair shiny, strong, and unbreakable. The shampoo rejuvenates the hair making it longer and shinier. The way that this claim is shown, is by showing how shiny and beautiful Selena Gomez’s hair looks after she uses the shampoo. Her hair is now strong and beautiful and the camera focuses solely on her hair and how effortlessly it bounces. She is also seen smiling and happy which gives the impression that because her hair is beautiful, so is she.
