Week 2 Assignment Timothy Cope The CTO will be reviewing this document. You have shown how easy it is to provision a Microsoft Windows desktop using AWS. The CTO chose AWS because it offered a free account. She will now expect a recommendation from you on what cloud service to use for the organization PaaS (e.g. operating system) needs. There is no need for a private cloud, so the public option will work just fine. Describe the different between the Google Cloud Platform, Amazon AWS, and Microsoft Azure. Make a recommendation to the CTO as to which service provider you would recommend and why. Be explicit and detailed in your recommendation. When choosing a cloud service provider there are plenty of things to considering such as: pricing, tech. support, reliability & performance, integration of existing network, financial stability of the provider, manageability, ownership of network architecture and network mediums, security, disaster recovery, etc. Currently, there is tight competition between the three tech. giants mentioned above: Amazon Web Service (AWS), Microsoft Azure as well as the up and coming Google Cloud Platform (GCP). GCP or Google is fairly new to cloud computing, so they are a little behind in the other two providers. Nevertheless, they (GCP) are making headway. Below are a list of facts to compare the three cloud services: AWS - launched in 2006 and currently provides 70 services with a large variety of coverages in 16 regions and 40 separate zones. A zone is an available area within a region. Shares of Amazon are on a steady incline along with its web services clientele. AWS strengths are as follows: -AWS is currently dominating the market. -AWS Can support large enterprise networks/ organizations. -Offers free 12 month membership including 750 hours per month. -AWS offers extensive training available during a 12 month free members. -Supports Windows and Linux - AWS offers temporary storage that starts working along with the instance. Once the instance is terminated, storage is destroyed. -AWS also offers Block Storage similar to hard disks. Block Storage can be either attached to any instance or kept separate. - AWS completely supports NoSQL and relational databases as well as Big Data. - AWS offers EC2 which provides a variety of options for users to facilitate and customized. -Similar to Azure, AWS security is broken into five layers: data, application, host, network, and physical. ASW keeps user’s data safe by encrypting data communications and meeting industry security compliance requirements. AWS’s weaknesses are as follows: -Reports of being difficult for some users -Eventually becomes costly and costs higher than the other two platforms -Tech support fees. AWS does not provide all-inclusive tech support. -Overwhelming options for the simple users
