Acts involving misappropriation of authority by law enforcement in a way intended to produce personal gain for the officer or other individuals is a form of corruption. Misconduct is routine when discussing police officers who violate the rules and guidelines of police departments; illegal when it refers to police officers who breach state and federal laws, unconstitutional when law enforcement infringes upon a citizens Civil Rights; or any mixture thereof. Typical forms of corruption include but are not limited to extreme use of physical or deadly force, biased actions, physical or verbal persecution, and/or discriminating enforcement of the law. Outside the courts, escalating resentment over discriminatory misbehavior by law enforcement officers has let to rioting and/or protests which have turned violent. Effects of police corruption weakens public trust, morale will deteriorate, and it trashes the departments reputation. 12. Attorney misconduct is actions displayed which goes against the authenticated guidelines of professional conduct and is punished by disciplinary procedures. Disciplinary proceedings by a state bar association or other agency may incorporate private reprimands; public criticism; suspension or disbarment. Attorney-client relationship can become a form of misconduct once the attorney fails to present competent representation to a client. Charging excessive fees or overbilling are forms of misconduct. Attorneys are not authorized to agree to, charge, or collect a prohibited form of payment. Confidentiality and conflict of interest unless summoned by a judge an attorney is not allowed to disclose any classified information a client has told him/her in the course of their attorney/client relationship. Attorneys may not reveal any information he/she has discovered while on behalf of the client unless the client grants permission. Client funds, attorneys must retain client’s monies in separate accounts and may not mix them with their own monies. Attorneys must keep documentation of records, and reach out to clients immediately once client monies or property have been received. 13. Church leaders embezzle monies from church profits. Religious leaders lie to their congregation, clergy, and other constituents of the church, in order to uphold an appearance of holier than thou. Crimes in the religious system create trust violations and feelings of treachery within the community. 14. High-return or risk free investments. Certain dishonest brokers and/or investment counselors suggest inapt products which don’t meet the investment objectives or economic situations of investors. Inappropriate suggestions may happen when a broker sells tentative high-risk investments, such as futures or penny stocks to people who are near retirement or already retired and have a low-risk tolerance.
