experience, an abundance of knowledge which is backed by certifications, and a degree that will be completed in one semester. Some of the things that I may need to work on in my personal and professional life to make myself more marketable is actually going out to contact future employers. I have allowed myself to become consumed in my current job and education that I have not reached out to my prospect future employers as much as I can and should have. I am more than willing to do this, but I need to start. The opportunities for me in the marketplace are seemingly endless. My skills could fit in almost any of the computer or IT oriented field from basic troubleshooting to maintaining the security of some of our most valuable government systems. I could work for a small company all the way up to a three letter organization for the government and fit in with either location. I am very multifaceted and flexible when it comes to my work environment. My long term prospects for the industries that I am considering are to expand. With the world the way it is, there is a more than ever need to protect our electronic devices and the security of them. As we

all know, everyone’s intentions are not good and therefore preventive as well as reactive measures are needed more than ever to maintain the integrity of our systems. I can greatly assist in accomplishing that. The industry is constantly growing from homes, too schools, libraries, work locations, almost everyone is on a networked computer at some point of their day. Even many of the cell phones that are used access the internet. Instead of pushing away from this technology we are moving towards it every day. We need more trained individuals to assist in the security field. The external threats to getting hired and perusing my career are that there are individuals that take their career just as seriously as I do. They may want it just as bad, so I must compete with these individuals to prove that I have what it takes to get the job done swiftly and correctly. This career is not in a decline, but there are quite a few individuals that are going after the same career. Where I stand out is that I do not only specialize in network security but many of the other facets of the IT realm. As technology evolves the skills required for this career may change. Security will need to become even tighter as our adversaries find new ways to hack into our networks. What sets me apart from others is that I know this and I am willing to do whatever it takes to protect our information and users. OBJECTIVES AND ISSUES After I graduate, I plan on pursuing my Masters in Computer Science with a specialization in Network Security. I will continue to educate myself and gain whatever certifications are needed for the job. My next step will be to become a contractor or civilian for the government.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
