DIY and the punk independent way of life is what brought the youth together. A large audience of youth wanted to disconnect from authority and stereotypical norms to find a community that was free thinking, authentic and personal. Punk Rock was a good location for the youth of the 90’s. When authorities attempted to contain the movement, the members responded to protect their way of life. The YDC was a great example of the loyalty of the members of this community. Even was confronted by police, Punk rockers defended their stance and made sure to keep their efforts alive. Bands also actively spoke against the pressure that was being pushed on them and their fans. The rebels hated popular authority, especially Regan, for their lack of honestly and intolerance. Regan wanted to use mass culture to control and influence Americans into think in a fashion that would support popular politics and society as a whole. The DIY culture stood behind the idea of making their own community and did their best to make media that was independent this and to produce their own media and means of communications. They realized their limits as a culture and realize they did not have the resources that big business/government had obtained but they made the most of what they had and unified for a considerable amount of time.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
