Quizzes: There will be a short quiz over the homework, usually at tje the start of the next class meeting after the assignment due date. Most quizzes will be closed book, but the values of relevant physical constants will be provided. Some formulas may also be provided. My grade history for this course clearly shows that classes which are given closed-book quizzes have higher average exam scores, so this policy is to your benefit. Tests: Tests will be closed book and closed notes, and will take the entire class period. No laptops, tablets, calculators, or cell phones will be allowed. The class will design a page of notes to accompany each exam. Attendance: I do not take attendance. However, this course will include a substantial component of graded in-class work in addition to quizzes. You are responsible for this material whether or not you are able to attend class. If you are unable to attend because you are ill, or have some other compelling reason, I will work with you to enable you to develop a plan for completing a missed assignment. Late or missed assignments: There will be no make-ups for late assignments without a prior arrangement with the instructor. Exceptions may be made for illness or other compelling emergencies. Academic integrity: “Academic dishonesty is a serious offense that can diminish the quality of scholarship, the academic environment, the academic reputation, and the quality of a Cal Poly Pomona degree.” [University Policy on Academic Integrity] Plagiarism (presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own) and cheating on tests are examples of academic dishonesty. You are responsible for complying with the Cal Poly Pomona statement on academic integrity and Student Conduct Code whether or not you have read them. The university’s academic integrity policy and student conduct code, as well as other useful resources concerning academic integrity are available on the Student Conduct and Integrity web pages. The penalties for academic dishonesty are serious. Should you perform an act of academic dishonesty, you will receive a score of zero on that assignment, and the incident will be reported. 330-syllabus-sp18.tex Spring 2018

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
