Step 2: Professional Development Goals Professional Development Goals My Professional development goals are robust because I believe you must always aim high, as quoted by the great Michelangelo “The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and reaching it”[ CITATION Mic11 \l 1033 ]. My goals include completing my MSN, specializing as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (MHNP) in which I aspire to work with children and adolescents. My ambition is to be part of a positive social change with children and adolescents focusing on their social conditions and positive self-image. I am going to join and be active in the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), to continually collaborate with colleges all over the United States and stay educated with the most current evidence-based information and practices, in the field of Mental Health nursing. I will continue to challenge myself by seeking employment with highly endorsed and accredited psychiatrists to learn from and ideally step into a leadership role while continually exploring new opportunities as an advanced practice nurse. I will also challenge myself by getting certified in EMDR and returning to school to obtain my Doctorates degree in the field of Mental Health. While achieving my goals, it is of the utmost importance to maintain a healthy life balance.
